It’s funny how my dashboard is flooded with questions on CS7 and Cineware. One of the most frequent ones is whether or not it will use OpenGL or CUDA. Sorry boys and girls, we now know officially, no such luck. Not that it would be anything to write home about, anyway – the way the effect works it won’t make much of a difference between the software viewport renderer (which luckily they left in) vs. graphics acceleration since other factors like passing data back and forth will cause delays as will the Cinema part calculating stuff like generator objects. All this reminds me of how 3D programs were before they had OpenGL – you could quite literally wait  several seconds for screen redraw to happen. You should perhaps not expect it to be that slow, but it’s not gonna be blazingly fast, either. Umm, well…. *sigh*
