Dear John…

Probably half the world wrote more or less sincere notes on the demise of a certain CEO of a fruit and vegetables company or something like that, but things hit so much closer to home and are so much more difficult when someone is passing away who you actually know or at least consider a kindred soul. That has now happened to John Joslin, who, *insert "surprising similarity" dumb looking face here*, also was eaten up by cancer. Of course I only knew him from working the Adobe user forums, but he seemed like someone who I would have gotten along in real life, too. He knew Photoshop in and out and did speak his mind about its shortcomings and some of Adobe‘s decisions. This didn’t necessarily make him always popular with authorities, but for a while he hung in there. Everybody only wondered where he went when he was no longer actively posting and all remained was his avatar. It’s still there today in the list of the most active users which shows how much time he spent there helping others. He was missed and will now be even more. In a way it’s now kind of creepy, though. It feels like some sort of virtual tombstone or memorial. I just hope I won’t end up like this when the reaper comes for me, meaning I will hopefully live long enough to have retired early enough to drop out of the list…
